Johannesburg, 31 March 2017: Tomorrow is the funniest day of the year, April Fool’s day. To celebrate this day and to support Comedy Central’s #MakeLifeFunnier campaign, the number one comedy channel in the world decided to undertake the first Comedy Central Humour online survey.
Comedy Central’s
first humour survey into who and what makes South Africans laugh revealed that Suzelle DIY, John Vlismas, Jeannie D, Trevor Gumbi & Donovan Goliath are the funniest TV presenters.
Roast Battle Africa and the Big Bang Theory are amongst the programmes that made us laugh the hardest with Darren ‘Whackhead’ Simpson, Gareth Cliff, Fresh and Skhumba the funniest DJs on air
Says Dillon Khan, Vice President of Comedy Central for Viacom International Media Networks Africa: “We’ve always known that South Africans can laugh at themselves – now we know who else they find funny! Congratulations to all those who featured in our survey – keep doing what you do and keep making life funnier for us all.”

Funniest local TV show
Roast Battle Africa
is the Funniest Local TV show with Ridiculousness Africa, My Perfect Family, Evita’s Free Speech and Boer Soek ‘n Vrou making up the Top 5.

Funniest international TV show
The Big Bang Theory
topped the Funniest International TV Show with The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, My Wife and Kids, Modern Family and Two and a Half Men rounding off the category.

Funniest TV presenter
The hilarious Suzelle DIY took the number one slot for Funniest TV presenter with Jeannie D, Donovan Goliath, John Vlismas and Trevor Gumbi completing the mix.

Funniest celebrity
Barry Hilton
was the public’s Funniest celebrity with Marc Lottering, Skhumba, Nathaniel and Casper De Vries as part of the group.

Funniest Radio DJ
947’s Darren ‘Whackhead’ Simpson
came out tops in The Funniest Radio DJ category with Fresh, Gareth Cliff, Rian Van Heerden and Skhumba the voices we love to hear.

Funniest TV channel
Comedy Central
took first place for The Funniest Channel with SABC 2, BBC Brit and Mzansi Magic all in the mix.
