Working with panels made up of female experts in the industry, adjudicating various categories, the Women In Music Awards recognize and celebrate the true talent, musicianship, skill and other key aspects that inform the industry to be what it is.
Founded by Singer/Songwriter Thiwe Mbola, the awards seek to empower, celebrate and recognize women in music both on stage and behind the scenes. This was birthed from a series of Women in Music workshops which were hosted in Gauteng and the Free State provinces, to impart knowledge and insights to aspiring musicians and producers by seasoned industry experts. “I have a passion for people and music. As a musician myself, I believe it is important to celebrate the people behind the scenes just as much it is celebrating musicians. I am a firm believer in women empowerment and these Women In Music workshops enforced that. The Women In Music Awards will be a great delight for all the women in our industry, we have exciting categories and an even more exciting panel of judges. We celebrate true musicianship not hype.” Commented founder, Thiwe Mbola.
