Once Upon A Time In Joburg is a one-day music live music festival that focuses and caters to the R&B lovers in South Africa. Our aim has always been to bring the people great experiences and performances to live them with memories that will become timeless stories they share with their own kids and grandkids in the future. We focus on bringing artists that the fans have created their own stories with as it’s been their soundtrack to some of their pivotal life moments and artists fans can create new stories within terms of not just discovering new music and artists but the hidden beauty of the great city called Johannesburg.
Once Upon A Time In Joburg first came to life on the 2nd of March 2024 when we had our first show at Fields & Study Park in Sandton. It featured a line-up of various South African DJs and live performances from Lord Kez, Marcus Harvy, Simmy and American R&B singer Xavier Omar. Set outdoors to give the real festival going feel and a romantic setting for real lovers and yearners. The second show took place on the 21st of June 2025 at James & Ethel Grey Park in Melrose. The second show featured a live line-up of Lusanda, Nanette, Shekhinah, American rapper Goldlink & Colombian UK-born R&B singer Sasha Keable.
In true Once Upon A Time In Joburg fashion we decided to surprise our community with our third show taking place on the 7th of December 2025 at Marks Park Sports Club. This will be our biggest one yet and that’s because we’ve been pleasantly surprised at how united people have been over wanting to hear, see, experience and immerse themselves in a live performance from Canadian duo DVSN. The international duo themselves are excited to be coming to Johannesburg to meet and connect with their fanbase and community and promise to make it a night that you’ll never forget because they’re sure you remember all the nights you shared with them when creating some of your best memories. The show will also feature rising UK RnB sensation Jaz Karis who released her debut album, Safe Flight,last year and recently released her new EP, Loud in the Water on the 24th of October 2025, and to represent our beautiful land of South Africa we have Langa Mavuso, Una Rams & Filah-Lah-Lah to complete our superstar studded line-up.
