After more than a decade of defining soulful Amapiano, South African hitmaker Abidoza steps into a more energetic club sound with the first release from his forthcoming EP “Club Controller”
Johannesburg, 4 September 2026: Multi-platinum artist and producer Abidoza, is stepping into a new sonic chapter with the release of his latest single, “Club What” featuring Djy Vino, out today across all major digital streaming platforms.
Abidoza has spent more than a decade establishing himself as one of South Africa’s respected producers and musical arrangers. Since gaining nationwide recognition with the 2018 hit “Baby Boy”, he has built a catalogue that includes “Siyathandana” and “Dinaledi”, alongside projects such as Musical Touch, Black Child and Pianochella.
His work has also seen him collaborate with some of the biggest names in South African and African music, including Cassper Nyovest, Major League, Focalistic, Davido and CKay.
Known for his smooth and soulful approach to Amapiano, Abidoza is now deliberately stepping outside that familiar sound with “Club What”, a more energetic, club-focused record built around driving grooves, hard-hitting production and infectious chants.
This marks a return to a heavier club sound that Abidoza last explored around six years ago, while also placing his identity as a performing DJ at the centre of the new music.
“People know me for my soulful and smooth sound, so this project is really about showing another side of me,” says Abidoza. “I haven’t explored this kind of club sound properly in about six years, and I felt like it was time to challenge myself and give people something different”
“Club What” is the first single from Abidoza’s forthcoming eight-track EP, Club Controller. The track has already been gaining organic momentum on TikTok and circulating within DJ sets, building anticipation ahead of its official release.
For Abidoza, the new project is also an opportunity to explore his identity as a performing DJ, with the music created to come alive in clubs, festivals and on the dance floor.
“Club Controller is about me exploring a side of my music that I haven’t really shown people before,” he adds. “The songs are more energetic and made with the DJ and the dance floor in mind. “Club What” is just the beginning and I’m excited for people to hear where I’m taking it.”
The single will be followed by another release in October, leading into Club Controller, which further explores Abidoza’s new club-driven direction ahead of the summer season.
With “Club What”, Abidoza continues to expand his sound while showcasing another side of his artistry, one that is designed to be experienced on the dance floor.

Amogelang Thorne Chabangu, widely known by his stage name Abidoza, is a South African DJ, music producer and songwriter from Marokolong, Hammanskraal, north of Pretoria.
With more than a decade of experience in the South African music industry, Abidoza has grown from a passionate young producer into one of the country’s respected musical arrangers and hitmakers. His passion for music developed at an early age and saw him regularly travel from Hammanskraal to Johannesburg to spend time in studios, where he developed his production skills hands-on.
Abidoza first gained nationwide recognition in 2018 with “Baby Boy”, a breakthrough record that helped establish his name within the growing Amapiano movement. In 2019, he released his debut album, Musical Touch, further introducing audiences to his signature approach to soulful and melodic production.
