Johannesburg, 23 April 2018 – South African rap artist AKA continues to push boundaries in the African hip-hop scene, this time with a drama-filled appearance at the highly anticipated sold out three-city South African WWE Tour. The “Sweet Fire” singer is the official first African artist to be featured on WWE ever; this is a huge milestone that no other rapper or musician from Africa can claim accolades to. Following international artists like Snoop Dogg, Rick Ross, P. Diddy, Machine Gun Kelly, Wiz Khalifa, and FloRida; AKA is currently the 7th rapper to make an appearance on WWE.

AKA brought his unique flair when wrestler Elias claimed to be the best musician on the face of the planet – AKA got in the ring to defend his title. After a few punch lines from the African rapper aimed at Elias; Elias couldn’t take it lyrical and wanted to go physical…

With over 30 accolades to his name; a long list of chart topping music and the title of the biggest hip hop act in Africa, AKA’s vision is to continue to pave the way for the culture.

“History was made this weekend. As much as this was a dream of mine, it was also a moment for the culture in South African hip-hop to be featured on WWE Tour. African hip-hop was represented in that ring and I’m very happy to have been the one to make this happen. I grew up watching wrestling; WWE was a defining factor in my childhood. I remember my mom taping the Iron Man match between Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart at WrestleMania 12 on VCR. It is such an honor for me to be involved in this tour because WWE impacts my creativity, and inspires me on so many levels. I’m a fully fledged proud member of the WWE universe”; says AKA, The SupaMega.

This past Friday, the South African Music Awards announced the nominees for Record of the year in which AKA leads the category with three nods for songs “The World Is Yours”, “Caiphus Song” and “Don’t Forget To Pray” with Anatii.
