This exciting remix collection transforms tracks from his critically acclaimed album amaXesha—named The Guardian’s “Global Album of the Month”—through the innovative lenses of an all-star cast of producers including Da Capo, Lemon & Herb, Karyendasoul, Henrik Schwarz, Mpho.wav, and rising Amapiano star Ntokzin.
With each remix unique in its interpretation, the EP beautifully blends Mabandla’s soul-stirring storytelling and emotive vocals with electrifying dance-forward genres such as Afro-house, Afro-tech, Techno-House, and Amapiano. This reimagining not only showcases Bongeziwe’s versatility as an artist but also celebrates the creative collaboration within the vibrant music community.
Notable remixer Henrik Schwarz, based in Berlin and known for his award-winning work with international acts like Coldplay and Stevie Wonder, lends his rich expertise to the project. Similarly, South Africa’s Da Capo, recognized as one of the country’s premier remixers, contributes a warm, soulful Afro-house touch. Mpho.wav, who made waves in the Beatport charts, along with established producers Lemon & Herb and Karyendasoul, create a refreshing dynamic, ensuring that each remix carries Bongeziwe’s ethereal voice through a dance-floor-ready lens.

It was easy to accommodate his style because I resonate with it… Bongeziwe’s voice in his original song, has a sense of longing for someone who offers a place of comfort and safety. I always go with the mood of the song I’m mixing, so what I did for “thula” was kind of add on to the story. In the remix, I chose to evoke joy. The joy of journeying to, or traveling to see this person we are longing for in this story Bongeziwe is telling” Da Capo
“My first impression of Bongeziwe’s original music was that it felt deeply emotive and
authentic. When approaching the remix, I wanted to honor that raw emotion while bringing my
own sonic perspective to it, creating a balance between his organic sound and my electronic
Influences. The most exciting part was finding a way to reinterpret the track while still preserving its
essence. Bongeziwe’s music has such a rich emotional depth, and I wanted to enhance that
while introducing new textures and electronic Afro house rhythms. Experimenting with different
sounds and structures to create something fresh yet familiar for his audience and mine was a
