The COVID-19 outbreak has severely impacted a number of sectors, amongst which is the music industry. As a way to support music artists, in their time of need, Apple Music is launching an initiative called Stream Local, specifically to support artists from South Africa and across the African continent.
Kicking-off from Saturday, 11 April 2020, this campaign will see Apple Music feature the very best South African playlists, albums and singles on its main browser page; offering subscribers the very best in local music.
The playlists will include the likes of Mzansi Hits, Mzansi House, Amapiano Lifestyle, Afrikaanse Treffers, Mzansi Soul as well as Essentials playlists from South Africa’s biggest artists including Nasty C, Cassper Nyovest, Joyous Celebration, Karen Zoid and more.
Stream Local will feature music albums of some of Mzansi’s chart toppers; from the likes of Elaine, Blaq Diamond, Kabza de Small and DJ Maphorisa as well as Spoegwolf. The list also includes latest releases from the Bongeziwe Mabandla, Ami Faku, Sha Sha and Brendan Peyper.
