Apple Music has released this month’s Africa Now DJ Mix, featuring Nigerian DJ, producer, and culture shaper DJ Neptune.
“The songs I picked carry the heartbeat of what’s happening right now across African music. From street-rooted sounds to global Afrobeats hits, each track connects because it reflects where the culture is and where it’s heading,” he tells Apple Music. “Our sound carries history, energy, and identity. My job is simple. Protect that energy, elevate it, and let the world see and hear it the way we feel it. I don’t mix to impress; I mix to honour, and to represent. Because when the culture speaks through you, the world pays attention.”
A dynamic force in African music, DJ Neptune is known for his precision, smooth transitions, and ability to unify diverse genres. His mixes are intentional and high-energy, rooted in rhythm while capable of shifting atmospheres and igniting dance floors. With a career that spans clubs, radio, global stages and digital platforms, he has built a reputation for transforming songs into moments and reinforcing Africa’s presence on the global stage.
Speaking on the mood of his mix, he says, “The mix carries a warm, energetic and uplifting mood. It moves from calm, soulful moments to high-tempo, dance-floor energy. Just like a real African night out. The feeling is simple: joy, confidence and motion.”
He continues, “African music keeps evolving because we’re bold with our sound and we’re not afraid to experiment… We stay original, but we keep reinventing.”
