Earlier this year, Ballantine’s Scotch Whisky and SAMA-winning, platinum-selling duo Black Motion asked people from across the country to submit the sounds, rhythms and beats that represent their life and experience of South Africa, with the goal of co-creating one incomparable album: the Ballantine’s Beat of Africa.
Months of searching, collecting and curating will culminate this Saturday 6 May 2017 when Ballantine’s and brand ambassadors Black Motion officially launch the Beat of Africa album at Turbine Hall in Johannesburg.
The line-up includes headliners Black Motion, with special guests Jazzuelle, Trancemicsoul, DJ Fosta and Leighton Moody.

It has been a singularly unique journey to get here: Black Motion spent the last few weeks choosing the best sounds from the hundreds of submissions. From there they headed into studio to mix these everyday sounds into an incredible and one-of-a-kind track that is distinctly ours. This track will also form part of the bigger Beat of Africa album, which will include similar tracks from partner countries Cameroon, Angola, Mozambique and Zambia.
