Having just been announced as the opening act for Sam Smith’s South African Tour, BONJ is ready to let the world know she’s arrived!
BONJ is a quiet person at first glance but the minute she steps on the stage, she becomes a force to be reckoned with.
Born and bred in Soweto, she has been immersed in the music industry for over 10 years; coming from a music-loving family, you can immediately hear her influences drawn from Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Soul, House & Kwaito.
Debuting her new single, Bonj belts out a beautiful story about going against all odds in the name of love, in an explosive collaboration with DJ Zinhle for the single Against The Grain. The South African singer, who is signed to Award Winning Afro-Pop Artist Tresor’s music label Jacquel Entertainment Group; is the newest and most vibrant addition to the music industry.
In a short comment about Against The Grain, newcomer Bonj had this to say “This is a deeply personal song inspired by the beautiful resilience of love and its ability to overcome all odds; it is about being brave to love who you want to love”. She went on to say, “It was really exciting being able to collaborate with the amazing DJ Zinhle on Against The Grain and I’ve had amazing support from the team at Jacquel Entertainment Group.
