South Africans can relive all the excitement and red-carpet glamour of the 22nd Annual South African Music Awards when SABC1 rebroadcasts this year’s ceremony on Saturday, 18 June 2016, at 8pm.
Packed with pulse-racing live performances and out-of-the box mash-ups by a selection of this year’s nominees, #SAMA22 has been widely hailed as the most polished and successful local awards ceremony to date.
Viewers can witness the elation of the winners in the various categories, topped by two sons of the Eastern Cape – Afro-soul newcomer Nathi and DJ/producer extraordinaire Black Coffee – walking off with the lion’s share of awards for which they were eligible.
Among the other big winners on the night of #SAMA22, which took place for the first time in Durban on 5 June 2016, were gospel artist Sfiso Ncwane, kwaito hitmakers Dbn Nyts and rapper Emtee.
Make a date with the couch and tune in to see the who’s who of Mzansi’s music scene being rewarded for doing what they do best – crafting the memorable tunes that form the soundtrack to our everyday lives.
