Cape Town. Today The Cape Town Electronic Music Festival added a further 24 acts to the Phase One line-up – making the 2016 festival unparalleled in size and scope.
A total of 39 acts will share their sounds on CTEMF’s stages over 3 days from 5 – 7th February 2016.
Uniting world-renowned icons with fresh, new emerging acts from all corners of the South African scene, the 2016 line-up presents the same careful curation that has garnered CTEMF international recognition in previous years.
In typical CTEMF fashion, the line-up boasts a staggering variety of electronic music: hip hop, house, techno, electronica and all strains of bass music.
Highlights from today’s announcement include: Detroit techno stalwart Rolando, French DJ/producer Chloé lauded for melding art and music, Berlin’s Ralf Kollmann, head honcho of powerhouse imprint Mobilee. Critically acclaimed SA-raised Petite Noir returns to perform his first ever live show on home soil while Pretoria’s Aero Manyelo will administer a potentially lethal dose of house.
A large contingent of Cape-based artists make sure that the festival remains true to its name and aims of representing the city’s vibrant and varied electronic music communities. Sibot & Toyota will present their deft amalgam of bass, beats and attitude as well as hip-hop quartet Driemanskap who have taken their self-crafted “spaza” sound around the globe.
Late in 2015 the festival announced plans for a new third stage, and this has been realized via the new “Club Stage”. The festival’s extensive line-up and expansion indicate both an evolution of the festival and the growth of the industry in broader terms.

About CTEMF
For over 15 years South Africa’s electronic music scene has been confined to the shadows of the greater global scene at large.
The CTEMF is committed to establishing the local scene on the international stage. From a genuinely ‘underground‘ starting point, it has been slowly growing and has finally earned its rightful place alongside the dance capitals of the world, beautifully illustrated by South Africa being awarded Dance Nation of the Year 2015 at the recent International DJ Awards ceremony.
The Cape Town Electronic Music Festival (CTEMF) is the celebration of a scene coming of age. It marks the point at which the electronic music scene in South Africa has been globally recognized as an industry that has attaihed the state of being self-sustainable.
The CTEMF is not about how many feet pass through the door, nor booking the biggest acts to ensure radio play or getting as many ‘likes’ on Facebook as possible. It’s about communicating the ethos, passion and musical creativity that has driven the scene from its early days to its current position as a global player in the world of electronic music.
