First thing first, RIP Flabba.
If Euphonik is the President of House, I think Sliqe should be President of Hip Hop.
Sliqe didn’t manage to only bring out some of the best Hip Hop artist to work on his album but also brought out the best in those Hip Hop artist and worked with some the best producers but also note that he didn’t only stick to working with heavyweights but he made sure to include the new school artists and producers (Yanga, Priddy Ugly, Big Star, Cass, Sherkinah and Tweezy).
Something you come to appreciate about this album is Sliqe’s unique way of showcasing the different types of Hip Hop sounds but still keep it “street”. By that I mean, the album is not 1 sound throughout, it’s actually a vast amount of sounds but all have this same style, it’s like a hybrid of Hip Hop and Kwaito.
Sliqe has really cemented himself in the Hip Hop industry and Music industry as whole, after winning his SAMA for Best Remix but even with the success he has achieved so quick, whilst listening to his album, he still sounds like someone that you’ll find in the hood just being friendly to everyone – and that’s the message that carried throughout the album, it’s a good vibe.
Kwaito is deep rooted within him but he has truly studied Hip Hop. You have to listen to this album to really appreciate his sound. He is well on his way to being the President of Hip Hop. This is a masterpiece by Sliqe.
