Wow, what an event, I just wish I had 3 clones to be at 4 different places at once – please bare with me, I could only cover so much.
#DStvFoodies
This was where we all started, tasting different kinds of food. There was a wide variety sorted out by Exotic; Elegance; Local; Indulgence and Fresh. The service at the different stalls was best and everyone was curious to what had been prepared for us.
We then had Food Network’s very Sibahle Mntongana, who was filming Sibas Kitchen. That was very interesting, watching people compete as they cooked for the judges.
Not too far away was BBC’s Rachel Khoo, her section had a book signing, meet & greet and was a mini restaurant. Rachel Khoo made sure everyone was happy by personally catering to them.
DStv Kids
I doubt any kids were tweeting #DStvKids but this was the coolest place to be. I sort of envied those kids at 1 point because they were either at the Jungle Gym; Jumping Castle; watching DStv Kids channels or being entertained by Sportacus and other cool acts. The were taught the importance of eating healthy and keeping fit. Even the guards knew I wanted to be there.

#MWEBWiFiWineTour
I didn’t know about this until I arrived but MWEB placed WiFi hotpots all over the area. All we had to do is register and participate in their wine tasting then yeah – free internet for all through MWEB.
#DStvMusic
Main Stage – Probably the most anticipated parts of the Delicious Festival. From the first performance till the last, everyone was thoroughly entertained. Jeremy Loops and Zahara did a solid job at entertaining the crowd. We then got a 15-20 minute break as a DJ would play some House Music classics and people were able to go the toilet facilities, get drinks or more food.
When Incognito came on, from nowhere, crowds of people just came down to be entertained. They performed all the favourites and engaged with crowd. The energy levels kept rising when Brand New Heavies followed, with breaks included but nobody would move. Even when Soul 2 Soul was announced to come on in 15 minutes, the crowd stayed put as they wanted to make sure they enjoyed every minute of it.
It was rather sad to see the masses of people leave when Goldfish performed. I suppose the crowd was there for the international acts. Still, Goldfish don’t let people down when they perform. They were solid and changed the tempo.
Soul Candi Experience – If you follow me on Twitter (@YuleD), you wouldn’t have been surprised to spot me here, at one point on the stage with Household Funk. Soon as Ricardo da Costa pressed play, people started coming in. I know Ricardo da Costa as beast on Progressive House but he played a Deep House set so well that when Harael Salkow followed and then Lulo Cafe it was set that the Soul Candi Experience didn’t want anybody seated but dancing.
This flowed well into the night, then Euphonik and DJ Kent played. They were booked separately but decided to take us to KentPhonik days and they entertained the crowd perfectly. The Soul Candi Experience was so packed that 1 would forget about the Main Stage. The tempo didn’t drop even when Household Funk came on, the crowd showed their support and stayed. It went from Deep House to Progressive House.
Overall
There were a few glitches here and there, like there were a lot of toilets but not enough. I don’t know about the ATM, I avoided it and the variety of alcohol wasn’t sufficient. The setup seemed a bit confusing as nobody knew where the Soul Candi Experience was, I was redirected a lot of times.
I enjoyed the spacing though, we weren’t packed into 1 place and anyone could navigate. The main bar was also quick with service and cold drinks were R10, I loved that. The service was awesome. The presence of security was great. Families had a great time, entertainment for kids, teenagers and parents was provided.
