World’s top horse racing events continue exchange of fashion icons
The most exquisitely dressed lady at the Glorious Goodwood event will once again be invited to attend South Africa’s premier summer horseracing occasion – the 155th running of the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate (LQP), taking place at Kenilworth Racecourse on January 9, 2016.
A prize beginning in 2014, the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate rewards the lady who best exemplifies the elegance of Glorious Goodwood in the traditional L’Ormarins colours of blue and white on the day that the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate Stakes is run at the Qatar Goodwood Festival. The prize, for two, includes flights and five nights in a luxury hotel in Cape Town.
Further cementing the relationship between these two distinguished events, Deborah Calmeyer, winner of the Best Dressed Lady at LQP 2015, has been invited to Glorious Goodwood, from July 28 to August 1, and will have a hand in selecting the lady whose look best echoes the splendour of Glorious Goodwood. Reggie Ansah, winner of Best Dressed Man at LQP 2015, will join as a guest.
“The Best Dressed Lady competition is a way of acknowledging the queens of fashion who personify the grace and grandeur of horse racing, a sport rich in history and heritage. I look forward to seeing all the style icons of Glorious Goodwood and having the winner attend the L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate next year, ” said Calmeyer.
The L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate 2016’s exciting race card will set the country’s finest thoroughbreds against each other in pursuit of the coveted R1 million purse. It expects to see horse racing experts, betting buffs, local and international media, fashionistas, celebrities and socialites at the trackside to enjoy the on-the-turf action as well as Cape hospitality at its best.
Trackside activities will include exceptional L’Ormarins wine and culinary creations and world-class after-party entertainment including headline international acts, enjoyed in the luxury of various exclusive areas.
