Johannesburg, 09 July 2025 – Respected amapiano DJ/Producer KMAT has joined efforts with ShaunMusiq, Khalil Harrison to unleash a new single titled “Piki Piki” featuring the globally renowned Moonchild Sanelly. The drop of the thumping track comes in time as the “MKK” hitmaker makes her highly anticipated return to the Piano People stage at Afronation in Portugal.
“I’m such a free spirit, and how this song came about is an example of that,” shares KMAT. “I just wanted to have fun in my artistry and my expression. This song is for the people who love to party.” “Piki Piki” is KMAT’s daring return to the dancefloor and energetic style that made many fall in love with her on tracks such as “MKK” and “Jobe”. The track embodies the vibrant feel and enthusiastic nature of KMAT’s beloved DJ sets. The anthemic track arrives after the producer previously explored the ascending 3Step sound on “QMA” and soulful Amapiano on the love-themed “MLB”.
Speaking about how the collaboration came about, KMAT shared, “we had this beat from ShaunMusiq. Then Khalil came up with a verse, but I told him this song is street banger so it needs something light-hearted.” “We were chilling in the studio for a while, as I had a minor writer’s block. KMAT came up with the concept of the song,” Khalil adds.
The dancefloor-inviting track also marks the first time the 2x Metro FM Award nominee comes to the fore on vocals as she chants on the hook and refrain. After sitting with the songfor a while, KMAT then decided to reach out to Moonchild Sanelly so she could be part of it. With her inimitable contributions, Moonchild adds another fun layer and texture to the song. Her playful yet bold verse is partly inspired by a nursery rhyme, true to her personality and fitting to “Piki Piki.”
Before its official release, KMAT has been teasing and testing out the song at shows, including her recent headline performance at Dankie Rooms, London and Bushfire Festival, ESwatini. “This song is different,” shares KMAT. “Why follow the rules when we can make our own?
