South African rapper L-Tido dropped a new album today, titled 16. The project is his first in five years (his sophomore All of Me came out in 2013).
16 is undoubtedly Tido’s most introspective album to date. While on All of Me, the MC had a few personal songs, like “Problems” and “Unbreakable,” on 16, he has more of those types of songs, in which he’s speaking about issues that have been in his mind.
He first gave us I’m Back, the first single out of the Album 16 by L-Tido sees him collaborating with the UK born and raised T. Phoenix; on a JayhBee produced master track in which L-Tido regards more as a statement than a song.
His second hit single Zilele, a club banger produced by Ganja beats featuring his long-time friend and colleague Cassper Nyovest (aka Mufasa) is one for the tracks. This album boasts hip hop’s heavyweights and is already amongst the most anticipated albums of the summer.
L-Tido and AKA have recently been releasing a number of hits together. On No Favors L-Tido seeks the service of his “Dlala Ka Yona” Smash Hit Producer Tweezy. This cleverly done song is a modern-day street anthem that will have people singing along to.
This is L-Tido like you have never heard him before on Higher, “singing ‘Tido” some may call it. On production is one of the most sort after producer to date Gobbla whose sound and texture fuses organically with L-Tido’s voice. This one is for the ladies.
The world of music, that’s what this song is. L-Tido utilizes the services of a very young producer Daniel Rap on this one. The up-tempo beat will have people dancing but the verses on this one will have the fans and listeners all listening to the message that this very song is for all the Real Ones left.
This Ultimate collabo includes the sexy Nadia Nakai, Rude Boy Major: Gemini Major and the new and exciting future of Sub-Saharan Hip Hop Fi Fresh and Darne. L-Tido’s best friend and hip-hop royalty Sean Pages brings his experience and his experimental ear with a Reggae touch Hip Hop/Dance Hall Hit Dirty Wine that is bound to have Gents lusting at the Ladies when this one is played.
On this album L-Tido’s old and new fans will have a meeting point and that is the Album 16.
L-Tido “A Student of the Game but a Master of his own class”.
