Liquideep Enter A New Era With New Single “For The Night”

South African musical duo Liquideep return with a fresh, emotionally charged single that signals the next chapter of their enduring story

Johannesburg, South Africa — Few South African musical acts have built a catalogue as enduring as Liquideep. Now, after years away from the spotlight, the multi-award-winning duo return with “For The Night,” a new single that captures the spirit of their evolution while staying rooted in the soulful, emotive sound that first made them household names.

Released as part of Liquideep’s highly anticipated return, “For The Night” introduces a more contemporary dimension to the duo’s sound, sophisticated, atmospheric and deeply melodic, while retaining the emotional honesty that has always defined their music.

For Thabo “Ryzor” Shokgolo and Jonathan “Ziyon” Hamilton, the return is not about recreating the past. It is about moving forward.

“We didn’t want to come back simply because people remembered the music. We came back because we still have something to say,” says Liquideep. “For The Night” is part of that conversation. It represents where we are now, as artists, as people and as creatives. We’ve lived, grown, changed and experienced life in completely different ways, and all of that naturally finds its way into the music.”

Liquideep’s influence stretches across generations. Their catalogue, which includes defining releases such as “Fairytale,” “Alone,” “Still,” “BBM” and “Rise Again,” helped establish the duo as one of the most distinctive voices in South African contemporary music.

Their legacy has continued to find new audiences, most recently through Tyla’s reimagining of “Fairytale,” which introduced one of Liquideep’s most recognisable compositions to a new generation of global listeners.

That cross-generational connection is central to the duo’s return. While their earlier work remains deeply embedded in South African music culture, “For The Night” reflects an artistically renewed Liquideep, one that is interested in where music is going rather than simply where it has been.

“We’ve always wanted our music to feel timeless rather than tied to a particular moment,” the duo adds. “That hasn’t changed. What has changed is us. We’ve experienced more, we’ve learned more and we have a different perspective on life. You can hear that in the new music.”

The release arrives at a moment of renewed excitement around Liquideep, as longtime listeners reconnect with the music that shaped a generation while a younger audience discovers the duo’s catalogue for the first time.

“For The Night” is not simply a comeback single. It is an introduction to Liquideep as they are today.

With their signature emotional depth intact and a fresh creative direction taking shape, the duo are opening the door to a new era, one that looks beyond nostalgia and towards a wider, more global future.

Liquideep has already proven that great music can travel across borders, generations and changing musical landscapes. With “For The Night,” they are ready to do it again.

“The story never really ended,” says Liquideep. “We just needed time to live the next chapters before we could make the next music.”

“For The Night” is out now.
