Johannesburg, 10 June 2025 – In celebration of his musical journey to date, Mlindo The Vocalist is hosting an exclusive watch party – with friends who played a pivotal role in shaping his musical success – of the Emakhaya documentary following the debut album’s resounding success, ahead of new music.
Mlindo The Vocalist was South Africa’s breakout artist in 2018 following the release of his multi-platinum and award-winning debut, Emakhaya. A rare phenomenon for any new artist, especially as the album continues to resonate with fans today and has remained in the album charts for close to 6 consecutive years.
“Emakhaya is a special album both for me and my fans, the album relates to so many people and households countrywide as it breaks down our daily problems and real life experiences we all go through, I feel like Emakhaya is music for the soul and it’s hard to forget and get over that album” reflects Mlindo The Vocalist.
There is no doubt that fans are eager for new music, however every new chapter also needs to take into account the previous one and this is how Mlindo The Vocalist explains the significance of dropping the Emakhaya documentary at this time – “We shot this documentary like 5 years ago I was still young and new to the industry, and a lot has happened since then, but it really fits with my new upcoming album titled UHAMBO – THE JOURNEY, as this documentary breaks down how and when my musical journey began.”
Reflecting on his success, development and journey over the years, Mlindo The Vocalist says, “I think fans appreciate the authenticity of the message in the songs. I honestly feel like Emakhaya couldn’t fully tell my whole story as I was still very young and new in the music industry. My second album Lindokuhle was more personal to me as I was more focused on working with artists I really look up to and was inspired by the likes of Ami Faku, Ishmael and Mthunzi. Now, with the new music on UHAMBO I feel I have matured musically and I integrate the experience of a lot of different styles and sounds.”
As fans wait eagerly for the premiere date of the Emakhaya documentary, Mlindo The Vocalist gives a glimpse into what fans can look forward to, saying “on the documentary fans will get to see my family and where I’m from, they will meet my siblings and my mother. They are actually going to meet the real Lindokuhle and also get to experience how Mlindo The Vocalist’s journey began.”
As for new music, fans have been waiting patiently, and Mlindo The Vocalist is ready to deliver. “My new single is titled ‘Inkomo Zika Baba’ featuring DJ Maphorisa and Cowboii. It’s a piano song and it felt right to release this single first as it features my mentor and father figure, DJ Maphorisa. My musical journey started with him, my first biggest song ‘Amablesser’ was done with him, so this song just felt like it’s the perfect song to start off the journey of ‘Uhambo.’”
