Multi-platinum Afro House Visionary Prince Kaybee Unveils ‘Veliry’ feat. Ben September

Posted on August 20, 2026August 21, 2026 by Yule Dark

“On ‘Heno Babayo’, Prince Kaybee delivers the kind of expansive, emotionally charged Afro-house production that has become synonymous with his sound. Crisp percussion drives the record forward while warm pads, melodic synth work and layered vocal arrangements create a rich and immersive atmosphere.” – Mixmag Germany

“Rather than chasing current trends, ‘Heno Babayo’ leans into the Afro house sound Prince Kaybee has become known for, pairing rolling percussion with melodic instrumentation and expressive vocal layers.” – YourEDM

“His latest single, “Heno Babayo”, reflects that approach. Rather than chasing chart success, the producer hopes the song becomes part of special moments in people’s lives.” – IOL

“Prince Kaybee and Shimza [are] two of the brightest stars of South Africa’s flourishing house music scene.” – TIME Magazine

Pre-save: Prince Kaybee – ‘Veliry feat. Ben September’

Legendary South African Afro-house DJ, producer, and television personality Prince Kaybee joins forces with the R&B, Afro-pop and soul singer-songwriter Ben September for the release of his newest single ‘Veliry’, which is slated for release on 21 August 2026 via PLAYY. Records. Previously signed to major label Universal Music South Africa, Kaybee has become one of the genre’s leading ambassadors, connecting its African roots with international audiences. With platinum-selling hits like ‘Club Controller’, ‘Banomoya’ and ‘Uwrongo’ – which was featured in TIME Magazine’s 10 Best Songs of 2020 – and standout collaborations with Lady Zamar, Busiswa, TNS, Shimza, Black Motion, and Ami Faku, Prince Kaybee continues to shape the sound of modern South African dance music.

Prince Kaybee’s previous PLAYY. Records single, ‘Heno Babayo’, garnered significant international support, with MIXMAG covering the release across Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The single was also featured by YourEDM.com and House Music With Love, while earning UK national radio support on KISS XTRA’s The Afro Electronic Show with Larizzle. In South Africa, the release was covered by leading publications IOL and Music In Africa, and received airplay on the country’s largest commercial urban radio station, Metro FM, as well as YFM in Johannesburg and Good Hope FM in Cape Town.

From working club circuits to winning South African DJ search competition 1’s and 2’s in 2015, his rise has been defined by grit and breakthrough moments. He has since collected multiple South African Music Awards (SAMAs), including Male Artist of the Year, Best Dance Album, and Album of the Year, alongside a Best Dance Album win at the Metro FM Music Awards and repeated Song of the Year honours at the DStv Mzansi Viewers’ Choice Awards. His international recognition was solidified with a Best Collaboration win at the Soundcity MVP Awards Festival in Nigeria for his single “Gugulethu,” as well as acknowledgement from the African Muzik Magazine Awards (AFRIMMA).

Before becoming an award-winning artist, Prince Kaybee, born Kabelo Motsamai, had aspirations of a soccer career with Bloemfontein Celtics, which were halted by a knee injury. Influenced by his father’s collection of African classics and traditional jazz, he discovered his passion for music. In 2015, he rose to fame after winning the SABC 1 DJing and producing competition, Masters of Spin, which launched his career in the South African music scene. He gained further recognition and received a nomination for Listener’s Choice at the MTV Africa Music Awards the following year.

Ben September is a South African singer-songwriter from Sasolburg in the Free State whose music blends Alternative R&B, Afro-pop and soul with emotionally driven songwriting. After first gaining recognition through collaborations with artists including Prince Kaybee, Tyler ICU, KLY, FLVME and The Big Hash, he has emerged as one of South Africa’s most promising alternative voices. Drawing inspiration from artists such as Brent Faiyaz and Daniel Caesar, September’s music explores love, vulnerability and self-discovery, balancing intimate storytelling with genre-blurring production.

‘Veliry’ opens with a smooth, trickling guitar line that immediately establishes the track’s warm, organic atmosphere before an infectious Afro House rhythm gradually takes hold. Ben September’s silky vocal performance glides effortlessly across the production, delivering a performance that feels both intimate and uplifting. Rich percussive textures, subtle melodic flourishes and spacious instrumentation allow the song to breathe, creating an immersive soundscape that steadily builds without ever feeling overcrowded. The track is sure to resonate with fans of Black Coffee, Keinemusik, and Zakes Bantwini.

Prince Kaybee shared, “This song is inspired by a beautiful lady named Veliry. She reminds me of a beautiful day of harmonic love songs.”
