Johannesburg, 30 May 2016 – Recently launched to the market, the LG G5 has been captivating consumers with its unique modular design, full metal body and innovative accessories with the tradition of excellence that has been established by LG.
The G5 has been able to deliver a world class leading performance courtesy of <strong>Qualcomm most advance processor yet, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. The Snapdragon is a suite of System-on-Chip (SoC) semiconductor products designed and marketed by Qualcomm for mobile devices.
The Snapdragon central processing unit (CPU) uses the ARM RISC instruction set, and a single SoC may include multiple CPU cores, a graphics processing unit (GPU), a wireless modem, and other software and hardware to support a smartphone’s global positioning system (GPS), camera, gesture recognition and video.
What it means for the consumer is that the G5 boasts twice as much performance and power efficiency compared to its predecessor, the G4. The Snapdragon 820 supports the G5’s ability to deliver superior connectivity, processing speed, long battery life and graphics satiating the needs of the multimedia generation.

As the user the powerful processing will allow you to capture and playback content four times the resolution of 1080p. Stunning detail and clarity will define your videos and the slow motion video capture will enable you to relive high-speed action, one frame at a time.
“The Snapdragon 820 is engineered for excellent battery life in the G5. The device supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 technology, which enables the user to charge up to four times faster than conventional charging,” said Deon Prinsloo, General Manager for LG Mobile South Africa.
The G5 features innovative photography with an additional wide angle lens that is enabled by the 820’s integrated image signal processor, including instant HDR and dual rear cameras. The 135-degree lens on the LG G5 offers consumers a viewing angle that is approximately 1.7 times wider than those of existing smartphone cameras and 15 degrees wider than the human eye’s field of view, reflecting LG’s longstanding reputation as a leader in smartphone cameras.
With the Qualcomm Hexagon DSP with HVX, the always on sensors are designed to use 10 time less power than the G5 predecessors, leading to longer battery life comparatively. In addition to a stunning video, high-speed connectivity, and long battery life, as the user you will also be able to enjoy amazing audio thanks to Qualcomm aptX HD technology which is delivered to bring remarkable audio experience wirelessly over Bluetooth, and is available in the G5.
Additionally the G5 runs its own custom UI on top of an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, one of many reasons why the G5 has been hailed as the Android phone of the year.
