From the hypnotic 4/4 rhythms of house and techno, to the nostalgic sounds of future soul and R&B, the local flavours in gqom and colourful electronica, the 8th instalment of the Red Bull Live Stage at Oppikoppi 2017 once again promises to deliver the finest in South African electronic music alongside a choice selection of international headliners.

Day 1 features an array of dance music from the driving beat of techno to the playful rhythms of house. Featuring artists such as house & techno producer CornelisSA, who has released on Kenny Dope’s Dopewax Records, house vocalist Jackie Queens whose most recent projects ‘Women of House’ and ‘Girls Pt 2’ were released through Red Bull Studios Cape Town in August as well as the deep sounds of Jazzuelle whose latest release ‘Circles’ is out now on Get Physical Music.

Also on the line-up is Stay True Sounds producer Dwson, Durban based techno DJ and producer Shugga, bass house producer Chunda Munki, dance star Timo ODV and Samurai Yasusa & Swizz from Surreal Sounds Music.

On Day 2 British house producer and DJ, Patrick Topping, who has released on the likes of Hot Creations, Relief Records & HOTTRAX will be on stage alongside the playful electronica of Thor Rixon, the driving techno of Stab Virus and the cheeky music of Moonchild Sanelly. Representing hip hop is one of Cape Town’s finest exports, YoungstaCPT along with DJ extraordinaire and Red Bull 3Style champion, Tha Cutt.

With a nostalgic, future R&B sound Beat Sampras will be performing live, while Joburg hip hop DJ SistaMatik sets feature a mixture of underground gems, old school classics and the finest of African rap music. With an eclectic sound and a deep record box, Andrew the DJ will be opening up the stage for the day, while the multi-genre house productions of Trancemicsoul and the house/techno crossover set of Kyle Russow close off the night.

Future sounds are well represented on Day 3 with the likes of Durban’s Missu, electronic sister duo Kajama and singer-songwriter Langa Mavuso. Electronica also features with the likes of Vox Portent, Micr.Pluto, Leeu and Luma showcasing the more experimental side of electronic music. Having worked with the likes of Chance the Rapper, Joey Bada$$, Tinashe and Zayn Malik, British electronic duo Snakehips will be taking the Red Bull Studios Stage with their signature sound. Bringing the gqom sound from Durban are the Audioboyz, while the eclectic selections of Phatstoki blend electronic, dance and gqom. Closing off the night is the mighty DJ PH alongside drum n bass stalwart, Mr Green and bass-music prodigy, Chee.
