Johannesburg, 13th March 2025 – a remarkable 14,000 participants from over 250 companies gathered at the Wanderers Club for the 20th running of the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Johannesburg on Thursday evening. The event showcased the energetic participation of recognised Laureus South African ambassadors, adding an extra touch of prestige to the vibrant atmosphere.
The evening celebrated the spirit of fitness and camaraderie, as corporate teams came together to promote workplace wellness, foster team spirit, and engage in friendly competition. The race has become a cherished tradition at the Wanderers Club, over the past 2 decades.
The Joburg leg marks the first stop of a global movement promoting workplace fitness. The Series will make 16 stops across eight countries and six continents this year.
Under Johannesburg’s night sky, participants from a diverse range of companies embraced the opportunity to engage in a shared activity that encourages camaraderie and enjoyment among colleagues. The fastest male and female competitors raced to victory, crossing the finish line in impressive times: sub-18:00 for the men and sub-22:00 for the women, securing their places on the podium.

Large companies like Investec, Rand Water, and Nedbank had significant participation, with Investec once again leading the pack in terms of the largest number of participants.
Since 2014, the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation has been the proud beneficiary of the Corporate Challenge, thanks to the generous support from J.P. Morgan. Each year, the event makes a donation to the Foundation, on behalf of all participants, which benefits a total of 25 NGO organisations with an impact of over 40 000 lives including people with disabilities and just under 1600 sustainable jobs created.
The event also saw corporate teams share the track with esteemed Laureus South Africa ambassadors and celebrities, adding excitement to the occasion. Notable figures such as Akani Simbine, Deshun Deysel, Elana Afrika- Bredenkamp, and Corne Krige.
Participants were treated to a special performance by our very own homegrown Locnville at the end of the 5.6km race.
The next stop of the 2025 J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Series will be in Singapore on the 10th of April, continuing this global initiative for workplace fitness and camaraderie.
