Yule’s Review:
The Pretoria Edition of the Selektor Series set the bar very high as it had Funk Deepstar, Malankane and Miggs. This is a very interesting way to release compilations but I wish people from the city were given a chance to vote who gets chosen to represent them. The Jozi Edition does feature some of Jozi’s best but the real challenge would be to harness the vast sounds of Jozi, put into 3 discs and compete with the Pretoria Edition of the Selektor Series.

Mr Stereo Candi, Claude’s disc is 1 we have been waiting for. Staying true to his sound which has earned him respect over the years, Mr Claude could do no wrong with his disc, this time showcasing how amazing South African production is as a he featured a wide range of talented Producers, both known and new to the industry. He sets the mood in a charming and smooth way as the Jozi Edition looks to take on the Pretoria Edition on who are the best “Selektors”.

A little known fact is that Giggs Superstar has been doing Tribal House long before it became popular in South Africa, so he is deep rooted in the sound. This time he brings you his own production in Tribal by working with very talented producers and even featuring Durban favourites DJ Tira, Danger and Duncan. You would assume his sound would be the over played Tribal sound you find being played everywhere but to the contrary, Giggs Superstar’s disc is Deep Tech and also pulls in elements of Progressive House, this disc has nothing cheesy about it and will have you dancing from the go featuring more than just his productions but a mix of tracks produced by others because this is the Selektor Series after all.

Just Mo can’t be touched. As a self-proclaimed music junky and always looking for something new to play, Just Mo put a lot of work into his disc as you can imagine. He mixes dance floor smashers and with new tracks in a thrilling way. He doesn’t restrict himself to 1 genre or style but brings in a lot of different sounds and finds a way to blend them beautifully together. He makes sure to showcase the different sounds of Jozi in a way that will move bodies.
