Studio Universal Invites Fans To Star In Their Own TikTok Movie And Stand A Chance Of Winning R50,000

Aspiring video creators challenged to try and beat Lasizwe at his own game

Johannesburg, 8 July 2021 – NBCUniversal International Networks today announced that Studio Universal (DStv Channel 112) has launched a TikTok Hashtag Challenge for movie-mad South Africans to star in their own mini-movie for a chance to win R50,000.

As the home of Hollywood blockbusters, Studio Universal brings the movie screen to the silver screen – offering something for all audiences and genres. Now, the channel has launched the #StudioWeAreMovies TikTok challenge to find out how its viewers are creatively inspired by golden movie moments.

From 7 July to 8 August 2021, fans are invited to recreate an epic movie moment from their everyday lives, whether they might fancy themselves as a tough action hero in the making, a wise-cracking comedian or a dreamy romantic lead. Budding Scorseses and Spielbergs should post their short clips on TikTok with the hashtag #StudioWeAreMovies to be in with a chance of winning R50,000.

Vlogger and TV star Lasizwe Dambusa (TikTok: @lasizwe) has set the bar high with his own video submission – and fans are invited to see how they can outdo South Africa’s homegrown social media sensation. He’s joined by popular influencers including Crystal Noleen G.K (@crystal.g.katsini), Zanele Msimang (@zayaan4), Prince Dube (@pd_jokes), Willie Vusi Hlabangwana (@blackvreka), Jason van Tonder (@jason_on_comms) and Tsholo Peeters (@tpee5).
