In 1969, the small mining township of Shituru situated alongside the copper mine of Lukasi four young lads set up a brand-new teenagers’ band Oshi Jazz (Orchestre De Shirutu Jazz). These teenage boys Didos Longwa, Mutonkole Kilambe, Katele, Kassongo Songo Ley, Loboko Mangala, Dodo Doris were soon quite the local rage, but as inspired to be like the famous Big Lingala Orchestras out of the Congo capital Kinshasa. So, they recruited in Bukalos Bukasa wa BUkasa, Atia Jo and Kayembe Rapok and called themselves ‘Orchestra Super Vox.’ Now their new sound and new name was spreading and by 1972 they were well into residence at the Tom Balala Club, Lukasa, Zambia and it was here they were to meet entrepreneur Nashil Pichen Kazembe. Nashil had not long returned to Zambia from 10 years in Kenya following the collapse of the equator sound band in Nairobi and saw an opening to create a band that could:
a) Be his back up to record (in the Bemba Language) For the Zambia market.
b) Be his enter the entire East Africa Market with Lingala sound that was fast spreading from Zaire. (Congo DRC) into Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya, Zambia and Malawi.

Nashil took his name Kazembe, mixed it with the top football team in the whole of Central Africa (T.P Mazembe and we had Orchestre Super Mazembe (Movers of The Earth)

Today only Loboko and Doris still survive from those very first days. They were part of Mazembe at the beginning, they were the Original Earth Movers.
