The popularity of the Tutankhamun – His Tomb and His Treasures exhibition at Silverstar’s new entertainment venue, The Globe, continues to grow. Since the exhibition opened in early December 2014, over 50 000 visitors have experienced the wonders of Tutankhamun’s tomb in this captivating exhibition that offers visitors of all ages the unique opportunity to experience the treasures of the tomb at their moment of discovery.
To cater for the demand for tickets, the closing date for the exhibition is extended to 12 April. “We unfortunately cannot extend the exhibition closing date past 12 April 2015 and therefore stress the urgency for visitors to book now to avoid disappointment” says Tyrone Thöle of Great World Exhibitions, the company that together with partners SC Exhibitions (Germany) and Silverstar brought this highly acclaimed international exhibition to South Africa and the continent for the first time.
Patrons and members of the media have raved about the exhibition since it opened. “Initially I had misgivings about seeing replicas of the original artifacts but the exhibitors have so got it right.” says IOL.co.za while The Mercury hails the exhibition as “intelligently produced, thoughtfully curated, well presented and profoundly realistic.”

Tutankhamun and ancient Egypt are part of the Grade 5 curriculum. Therefore the appeal for learners to see the 1000+ perfectly replicated artifacts for themselves and to learn through the on-site experience has made the Tutankhamun exhibition invaluable to both scholars and educators alike. Special group discounts are available to learners and their educators.
Tutankhamun offers families a truly exceptional experience as they are guided through the exploration “journey” with the help of an audio guide (included in the ticket price). The audio guide is available in an adult and a child version, which makes the experience informative, enjoyable and fulfilling for the whole family. As with all facilities at Silverstar, the exhibition is open seven days a week, even during load shedding.
It takes about two hours to walk through the exhibition, although many visitors stay for longer. There’s a shop carrying official programmes, mementos made in Egypt and other quality merchandise. The fascinating “King Tut” exhibition at Silverstar is a not-to-be-missed educational and entertaining outing. Remember, the April school holidays are just weeks away, so book now, before the exhibition closes on 12 April 2015 via www.tut-exhibition.co.za
