From Kwa-Thema to international stages, the MC, DJ and entertainer shares the story behind his move into recorded music

Johannesburg, South Africa – 2 October 2026; After years of making his mark as an MC, DJ and artist, Uncool MC releases his debut EP, “Sesikude,” today with gamma.

Meaning “we have come far,” Sesikude reflects the road Uncool MC has travelled through music, from his childhood in Kwa-Thema, to moving up north, building relationships within the industry and eventually travelling the world through his craft.

The project also represents a shift in his career. Having spent years behind the mic as an MC and working alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, Uncool MC is now putting more of his own story into his music as a performing artist, DJ and recording artist.

Speaking about the project, Uncool MC says: “The title meaning is centred around the journey I have taken through my art of music. This is a reflection of my decision to transition from an MC into a full performing artist and DJ. I’ve decided to share my story of my experiences throughout my childhood memories, growing up in Kwa-Thema and moving up north to rub shoulders with my fellow colleagues in the industry and going on to travel the world.”

His years of collaborations also played a role in shaping the project, helping him identify the sound, energy and ideas he wanted to bring to his own music.

“Throughout the years of collaborations, I identified certain elements of myself that I saw as my strength to be able to start putting together my own music, which I later decided to express into a story that I’d put into a project. This means everything to me because I put my all in order for people to experience Uncool MC the artist,” he says.

The road to Sesikude began with “Setla,” released on 4 September. The single features DJ Maphorisa, Focalistic and Ntsako XVI and introduced the energy behind the project.

“Setla” has since reached the No. 1 position on South African radio, while continuing to chart consistently ahead of the EP’s release.

The EP was previewed at a listening session last night at CÉ LA VI in Sandton, where media and industry guests gathered to hear Sesikude ahead of its release. The evening drew a strong turnout, with guests responding positively to the project, while Uncool MC also performed “Setla” live.

Uncool MC has performed at major events including Cotton Fest, Piano People, Afro Nation and Fact Durban Rocks, while his catalogue has surpassed 140 million Spotify streams across his own releases and collaborations.

For Uncool MC, the EP is rooted in the values that have carried him throughout his career. “I want people to take positivity, endurance and consistency from the project, cause those are the elements that helped me come this far in this journey.”

With Sesikude, Uncool MC documents how far he has come while giving listeners a closer look at the artist behind the MC.
