Cape Town, South Africa – September 02, 2024 – Warner Music Africa (WMA) and Africori are excited to announce their presence at FAME Week Africa 2024, set to take place from September 2nd to 4th at the Cape Town International Convention Center. Visitors can find us at Booth D1, where we will proudly showcase our extensive and diverse music catalogue.

This partnership marks a significant milestone, following Warner Music Africa’s acquisition of a substantial stake in Africori in January 2022. Together, these two music industry powerhouses aim to elevate African talent and broaden its global reach. Africori’s impressive roster of over 7,000 artists and 850 clients includes major hits such as “Nkao Tempela,” “Tshwala Bam,” and “Dali Wam,” which have garnered millions of streams and billions of views.

Warner Music Africa, home to a distinguished global roster including Cardi B, Benson Boone, Ed Sheeran, and Lizzo, has seen a significant increase in sync income. This growth follows the success of CKay’s viral hit “Love Nwantiti” and strategic 360 partnerships, including a notable deal with East Africa’s top artist, Diamond Platinum. The label, in collaboration with Africori, has  gained from local recordings by Master KG, Kelvin Momo, Joeboy, and Focalistic. Through these strategic alliances, Warner Music Africa has broadened its expertise in music supervision, publishing, and synchronization, ensuring that brands, campaigns, and creative projects across film, television, and advertising are enhanced with the perfect soundtrack.

Attendees are invited to experience our silent headset sound tour, running daily from 8:30 AM to 6 PM, featuring a selection of both African and international music. This is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in the depth and richness of our catalogue.

We are also hosting a panel discussion titled “Who’s Listening? The Global Consumption of African Music” on Wednesday, September 4th at 10 AM. This session will delve into the expanding global influence of African music, consumer demographics, and the platforms driving this cultural shift. It’s an ideal event for filmmakers, advertisers, brands, and creatives interested in incorporating African music into their projects.

Panel Speakers:

  • Temi Adeniji, Managing Director of Warner Music Africa
  • Yoel Kenan, Founder & CEO of Africori
  • Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music, Sub-Saharan Africa at YouTube
  • Tumi Mogapi, Head of Publishing at Africori
