Johannesburg, Monday, 9 December 2024 – Fresh off of her GLAMOUR Women of the Year Next Gen Game Changer Award win, music marketing strategist Zethu Gqola has launched a podcast in collaboration with Quiet Life Co, that dives deep into the creative mind of South Africa’s renowned music artists.
Leveraging her large social media following of nearly 300 000 on TikTok, Zethu is now using her voice and opinions — largely expressed over pop culture and social political news topics — to dive into her career in the music business, spotlighting the current artists of today.
Zethu’s extensive career in the entertainment industry spans across fashion journalism, marketing large scale music festivals, standalone concerts and international artist local tours, with the last three years focussed on music marketing in the recording industry. The new podcast, Quiet Conversations, dissects the most iconic moments within the music and creative industries, looking at the creative process and execution of some of music’s most striking moments curated by artists, taking a closer look into what made that project, or their career spectacular.
Episode 1, which is out tomorrow, features an interview between Zethu Gqola and Danilo Queiros, founder of Quiet Life Co, who interviews Zethu in order to give context behind her career and the inspiration behind creating a podcast with these unique characteristics, which will go live tomorrow on the Quiet Conversations Spotify Podcasts page. Quiet Life Co is a Cape Town based sound business, dedicated to the development of infrastructure to support artist development.
Episode 2 and 3, both due for release within the following immediate days, were recorded in partnership with Spotify Africa, during the Spotify Mother of Music event, which saw Spotify take over Cape Town, hosting a wide range of exceptional events across the city, two of which were live panels that were recorded with the intention of looking into the creative processes of industry movers across various fields, by offering an educational lens into their journeys.
Podcast guests to anticipate as the podcast rolls into 2025 include rising R&B star Manana, international Afro Folk star Bongeziwe Mabandla, Lelowhatsgood – founder of SA’s most renowned vogue event VNJ Ball, Robyn Keyser – founder of Cape Town’s most iconic streetwear brand Art Club & Friends, and more.
