Soul Candi Sessions 2015 – First Artists Announced
The flagship album from powerhouse label Soul Candi Records has been peeking its head into the scene this late 2014. The Soul Candi Sessions series always boasts a 5 disc album which offers 5 of the hottest
DJ/Producers – be it established or up and coming. This year is proving to be one of the best to date with the first two featured artists announced this past week. Metro FM DJ and much-loved producer (especially by the ladies) Lulo Cafe was the first to be announced as a featured artist on Soul Candi Sessions 2015. He promises a soulful album filled with great local production and remixes.
The second featured artist is someone who has recently been making waves in the industry with his contribution to Andyboi’s album “Trail Evolution” as well as his most recent release, “The Floor EP”. Cuebur has been performing internationally this year in both Paris and London and warns his fans to be prepared for “great music” on his Soul Candi Sessions 2015 disc.
Harael Salkow, aka Daddy H at Soul Candi HQ, will be featured on the album once again this year and promises an album that maintains the high standards his fans expect as well as the hottest dance tracks from the season.
New to the scene as well as Sessions is the Durban-based Tellaman. His album is the featured artist album and includes all his own productions and vocals. The first single to be released off his album is “Drinks & Music” featuring Okmalumkoolkat which has already received an excellent response from the fans!
Rounding off the fantastic featured five is the YFM DJ Mo Flava. Known for his drivetime show on YFM from 3PM – 7PM as well as being a presenter on Club 808, Mo Flava is no stranger in the music industry and a perfect fit for the Sessions brand. The fans won’t be disappointed.
Soul Candi Sessions 2015 promises to be one of the hottest Sessions releases to date and its no surprise when you look at the credentials of the artists contributing to it this year. A calculated combination of newcomers, established producers and an excellent team working hard to perfect everything behind the scenes there is no doubt that this may be one of the years biggest house albums. So that’s a wrap on announcements – the final five have been named and the Soul Candi Sessions 2015 album will include Lulo Cafe, Cuebur, Harael Salkow, Tellaman and Mo Flava – who is YOUR favourite?
A Word With The Announced DJs:
New DJs
1. As this is your first mix for Soul Candi Sessions, following a long list of well-respected DJs in the industry that have already touched it, do you feel you’re ready to be featured on Sessions?
Cuebur: The Soul Candi Sessions series is one of the biggest projects that Soul Candi releases annually and carries quite a huge reputation that one never really feels ready for but, I’m quite confident and ready for what’s to come.
Lulo Café: Sessions is a series that’s really known to set the tone for where House Music is headed each time it drops….so this time around it’s time for the script to be rewritten and I’ll bring the new Soulful touch in House Music…..never been ready!!!
Tellaman: I am. I think the game or the music industry is in need of something different, and I just happened to be one of the guys who don’t only want to do it better but who also want to do it different. Big shout out to the guys who laid ground work for us. They made it easier and now the plan is to take it the next level.
2. What story do you want your disc to tell?
Cuebur: A slow transition from Smooth Deep Percussive Sounds to hard hitting Afro-Electro beats. I want the mix to show my versatility in music.
Lulo Café: I just want to touch musical hearts.
Tellaman: The story of love, joy, hope and positive change. Whenever I’m sad or happy music is always there to lift me up. It plays a very important role in my life, and I hope that my disc/album will play that role in someone’s life.
3. Which has been your favourite Sessions mix to-date?
Cuebur: It has to be Clive Bean on Soul Candi Sessions 5 (Disc 1). That mix defines the type of music I enjoying listening to.
Lulo Café: aaaaammmm that’s a tough one….but I feel Sessions 3, Dj Terance’s disc defined an era.
Tellaman: Sessions 14 is my favorite because that’s when I got introduced to the house lover all over, and I’m a big fan of the brands behind it.
Returning DJ, Mr Harael Salkow
1. On your first Sessions mix, you gave us the classics of House Music, music we grew up listening to and on the most recent SC Sessions, you took the listeners through your SunSet favourites/ La Dolce Vita style of House Music, what have you got planned for us this time around?
Harael Salkow: The same vibe as SC Sessions 2014
1. When Soul Candi started releasing the Sessions mix, did you imagine it would become the biggest House Music compilation in South Africa (the triple disc being the biggest game changer to this day)?
Harael Salkow: Our aim was to create SA’s most widely loved house compilation series, I hope we have achieved that 🙂
2. How has the journey of Sessions 1 been till now?
Harael Salkow: The Soul Candi roller coaster (including all our exciting projects such as Sessions, Spring Fiesta, The SCIM etc..) never stops delivering excitement and reward.
Make sure to look out for a copy when it’s out.
